Heat Wave...

We had a heat wave over the weekend, highs of 60 degrees! We were thrilled (It has been raining since, and will be for the next week or so). The warm weather must have put us in the summer mood because for some reason or another we ended up in the sunglasses section at Wal Mart. Here are some pictures of Matt posing his favorites. Which probably isn't as entertaining to all of you as it is to me, but Enjoy!

Funny how things work... or not.

I went to my parents house this afternoon... and before I ever got in the house Ryann met me at my car. She had obviously been crying and she said Bandit had been hit by a car. They were rushing him off to the vet, but he didn't make it. We held a funeral for him in the back yard. It was really sad. My poor sis... She was really upset.
She made me promise that if we need to find Rufus a new home he could come live with her, so of course I agreed. I just didn't think it would happen that way...

Rufus...

Anyone looking to adopt a cat?
Since we have discovered the last 2 months or so ago that I am allergic to Rufus, he has been locked out of our bedroom. I'm pretty sure everyone that reads this blog knows that we live in a err...."cozy" (that's what the nice word for tiny is right?) one bedroom apartment. So he's pretty limited on space right now. If you read my last post, you know that Rufus chewed up our laptop's power cord a little over a week ago. Well, he did us one better on Saturday.
We were both gone all day, Matt was at work, and I went to a baby shower during the day and at night we went to a wedding reception. I checked in on him and fed him and played with him before I had to go, but...! When Matt went home to shower and change for the reception, he discovered the little hellion chewed through those A/V chords that connected our DVD player to our TV, and also the Hi Def chords to the XBOX. On top of that... he climbed into one of our lower cupboards and chewed up the chord to my griddle. DANG CAT!
On one hand I am so fed up replacing everything and trying new ways to lock him out of things, but on the other I feel so bad that he's so unhappy! He has no place to play, and didn't do this until we started locking him out. We're trying a few last resorts, like moth balls, (thanks for that suggestion Steve! Rufus HATES the smell so far.) but if he chews up anything else, we've decided we need to find him a new home. He's getting pretty dang expensive!! We're looking to upgrade our apartment or possibly buy a small house when our lease comes due, but that's not for 5 more months. So we're thinking maybe we could find him a temporary home... we'll see what happens.
Matt still hasn't heard anything about the job on Hill, but Captain Snee told him it would take a while anyway. And with our experience with the government, we know that's true... So hopefully we'll be hearing some good news here in the next few weeks.

Updates

Well, I got a job offer yesterday and I took it -yay! My months (that felt like years) Of job hunting are over. It's such a big relief to know I'll have a job tomorrow. Which is something I haven't felt for a while now. The best part of my new job is probably the people I'm going to be working with. In my interview I told them I'd had an interview with an attorney, and if he offered me a job, it would be my dream job but I didn't want to accept the job and leave this company in a bind. So, my future boss turned to me and said -my first time meeting him- "I want you to go home, talk it over with your husband, pray about it, and do what's best for your family." How great is that? I was so impressed and still am. I know I will be taken care of there, I already feel like I fit in. I called the attorney, but didn't get a call back so I guess that means there's no job opening. Which is fine, hopefully he'll remember me for the future. And honestly I'm glad it worked out this way. I will be part time in the fall and winter season, so that would be the perfect time to get my butt back into school. And I'll be working with some great people. I'm so excited for what the next few months will hold for Matt and I. Matt is trying to get a job on base with Captain Snee, who recruited him into the Corps. We are both really hoping for that to work out. It would be a great job and something that would work around his school in the fall. I really think it would make a huge difference for Matt to be close to a familiar environment. And he's finally starting to feel ready to be back in school. I'm very proud of him.
I have been very blessed to have such a patient and understanding husband. He is the source of all my strength and without him I would be an absolute mess. Thank you for your support , Matt! You are the best and I love you like crazy. Colleen and Little Ethan (who is wearing my sister Ryann's shoes. hahaha.)

Sorry guys, I guess this is a little corny now that I see it on here. But I still like it, so it's staying :)

Valentines Fun

Well folks, I have found out I'll be laid off again March 1... Tentatively? Kinda nervous about that. This is not the time to be looking for a new job, and I am tired of looking for new jobs! Guess I haven't had too much luck in that department lately, huh? But I have an interview with an attorney in Ogden, so cross your fingers for me! This would be my dream job. I've been wanting to sign up for the Weber State Paralegal course that starts in March, but I don't dare without a job. If this all works out, Matt and I would both be thrilled.
Also we found out that if Matt registers for school now, it will still be under the old GI Bill, and the old benefits aren't as good. Once you're registered in one GI Bill, you can't switch over to another. So he'll be waiting until Fall semester to register so we can get on the new one. It stinks that he has to put that off 3 more months, but he got his foot in the door at the school yesterday and met a lot of people that can help him along the way. I'm excited for him to get back into college, I really think he'll enjoy it.
It's been a crazy week finding out about my job, and learning that we'll have to pay up to our old apartment complex that conned us. But Valentines still ended up being a nice event. Probably the best part for both of us was the Celtics game last night. (Matt's Valentines gift -even though I gave them to him in December. I can't keep secrets!) It was such a blast. When it came time to head down I started wondering if we'd get beaten for cheering on the Celtics at the Jazz arena, but funny enough, about half the arena was Celtics fans. Even though you can't tell in the picture (you can see Matt is annoyed I made him take one, but it was a time out! Not like Garnett's going up for a dunk and I said 'Hey Honey, picture time!' haha), we both had a great time.
I got spoiled :)

HUH?!

Did anyone else watch the Grammys? Matt and I went to my parents for dinner Sunday and tuned in for part of the show. Boy did we get more than we bargained for....

It takes a lot to make a pregnant woman look ridiculous, but she definitely pulled it off! Do they give an award for that?

The Hat...

This is a picture of Matthews posing in Wal-Mart. We found these hats and he decided he had to have one. His is just like this only where there is gray sheep like fur, it is long fur. I think it is the ugliest thing ever which makes him love it even more of course. haha. Gotta love that hubby of mine.

Not much has been happening for us lately. We are just hanging around loving life in Ogden. I am still looking for a new job, hopefully something long term will crop up. It feels like I've spent the last 2 years of my life not knowing whether I'll have a job tomorrow or not and that's frustrating and stressful. I am going to start school for my Paralegal certificate at the end of March so that should help...hopefully. It is all crammed into an 8 week program, so that will be stressful but definitely worth it if it will help me get a job in the field I like. Matt is starting school in May, so that will be a nice change. We'll finally be on the road to doing what we both want to, instead of feeling like we're stuck in limbo.
