Just Keep Swimming....

Man, what a crazy month it's been. Since I posted last, we have had quite a few adventures, including a fun Christmas visiting with all our family close by, and a trip to visit Beckett's AZ cousins.

This is Beckett in his Christmas Eve jammies from my Mom. Aren't they adorable?

Playing in his tent with Dad on Christmas morning

While in AZ after Christmas, we got to go to the batting cages in the crazy warm weather, and Matt loved that. He was anxious to go again when we got home, but quickly put that out of his mind as soon as we were back. This cold spell we've had lately has been nuts! It was nice to get away to see our fam, and to enjoy the 50's and 60's temps.

Beckett loved playing with his cousins, and they were all so sweet with him. Brinlee shared her blankie with him whenever they'd both sit with me to read stories, Drew was so nice sharing his toys with Beckett, and Sadie taught him how to high-five and he probably did it for her a hundred times during our visit, but he won't do for anyone else no matter how hard we try! It was also fun to see Beckett and Cole together since they are so close in age, but not in size. haha. Beckett is a tank! and I'd forgotten how little Cole is. I wish we'd gotten a new picture of them together, but I always forget to do that.

Plus, Beckett was SUCH A GOOD KID! I couldn't even believe it. I always plan for the worst case scenario and get myself all nervous and worked up about the drive, especially with our little man that freaks out just to get in the car seat to go see his grandmas - twenty minutes away. So I was a bit nervous about the 12 hour drive, to say the least. Matt and I were both pleasantly surprised that he was so good. Aside from the drive, this kid loves staying in hotels. Every time we've taken him somewhere, whether to AZ, or WY, or just to Salt Lake, he loves it when we check into a hotel room, and runs all around. When we pulled into Casablanca in Mesquite the first night of the trip (at 12:30 a.m.), and his eyes popped open, I thought we were doomed. But, nope! He loved all the neon lights, and ran up the halls to get us to our room, then crashed again as soon as his bed was set up.

The next morning while Matt loaded up our bags and I got Beckett ready to head out, he found the window overlooking the freeway. Just thinking about it makes me laugh. He climbed up there and pressed his face to the window, and said "Bye-bye memi!" to all the semi's driving past. He sure loves those "memis".

Anyway, that's enough about the trip, but we had such a great time (we are always so spoiled when we go down), and hopefully we can go back again soon.

When we got back, we got Beckett his own big kid table, hoping that would help with meal and snack times, since he's decided he hates his high chair. I'm so glad that it has helped. He loves sitting down at a table like a big boy.

We also got to see Beckett's WY cousins for a night recently. Beckett loves playing with his cousin Jackson. I have other pictures of these two playing Grandma's piano, but I had to include this picture because Jackson has this cute smile on his face and Beckett is pulling this face. JUST. LIKE. HIS. DAD. DOES.

This is Beckett's new favorite place to play. Our table is bar-height, and he'll push the chairs in so they touch almost all the way around, and put all his cars and trucks up there with him. It's pretty funny. He thinks you can't find him when he does that and is always so surprised when you do.

This past Monday was Martin Luther King Day, which meant Matt was off school and I had the option to take it off, too. So we made a day of it, and went to breakfast (while it was still 12 degrees, thus, the reason Beckett looks like he's in a blanket burrito), and then came home and Beckett and Matt played in the snow after nap time.

I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we are loving our crazy life right now. I think I have said this before, but right now I am working 4 days a week, with one day off (usually Wednesday) so I can play with Beckett all day. I love it. Of course I wish I was home a little more than that, but I'm happy to have what time I do, and I'm trying to make the most of it. Matt is doing great at POST, and he is really loving all that he is learning. Then there's our wild man. Beckett is doing great. He is learning so much so fast. He is a constant chatterbox these days, and the more he keeps jabbering, the more things we are understanding. He no longer sits in a high chair - at least most of the time - and he has discovered that it is more fun to sneak out of his crib and hide in his tent to play then to take naps or go to bed. Even though our schedules are nuts and we both get run down, we are loving the time we get as a family, and watching Beckett grow out of a baby and into a big boy. I can't even believe he will be 2 soon. At least not without choking up. haha.
