Rub A Dub Dub, Rufus In The Tub...

Okay, so by now you know that we are crazy about our cat, and that our cat is crazy. You know also know that Matt -okay and sometimes me, too- enjoy the occasional teasing of our kitty :) So anywho... As I think I have mentioned on our blog before, Rufus loves water. He has fallen in our toilet, our sink, and whenever there is running water he comes running. This includes the shower. And when you get out of the shower, he likes to stand on the side of the tub and lick the walls off the shower until they are dry. He's pshychotic, but we love him. So tonight when Matt got home from work, he was hurting from PT this morning and decided to run a bath. Well this intrigued that cat, so he came running and had to check it out. When the water was about 2 inches deep Matt says "hey put him in the water and see what he does." And I shoot him a look that says "He's a cat, we know what he's going to do." And he just says "come on..." Well, curiosity got the best of me and I set Rufus in the water. He just looked up at us like "Come on guys, are you serious?", looked down at the water, and got out (with no hurry, I might add) to stand by our feet. A few minutes later the tub was full and Rufus was still leaning on the side of the tub watching the water. So we did it again. And one more time. And he doesn't hate it. We didn't get any pictures because Matt was laughing too hard and I was chasing Rufus around with a warm towel because I felt bad. Hey we may be a little sick, but at least we know we have the cleanest cat on the block!

Food, Friends and Fun

We just got home from barbecue and bonfire at Oceanside Harbor and we had a blast. I got to play with my new friend Kiera some more and Matt got to play with Landon, a sunbeam that we used to teach while the sunbeams didn't have a teacher. But now they do so we're sad. He was a riot. And as big of a flirt as a 4 year old can be. We got a lot of sun, but a lot more sand. Matt is counting down the days until his birthday. (only 4 after today) and with every day that passes it seems like there's one more thing he wants. haha. Oh well. Anyway, I just blogged yesterday so I don't have much more to add, just wanted to post some pictures on here. I walked out on a jetty with a friend from the ward and got a picture of Oceanside Pier and of a sunset. They were taken on my phone of course, so they might be a little grainy but you get the idea. Enjoy!

This one didn't come out very well but it's still pretty, and you can see all the surfers heads. haha. The sun in person was hot pink

Sun, Babies and Rowdy Cats

Oh man is it getting hot outside. It 's been nice to go down to the beach on Saturdays when it gets too hot, but it's starting to get to where that's too warm too and all we want to do on the weekends is be where there is air conditioning, which with us, usually means seeing a movie. Anyone out there seen the new hulk yet? Still no luck in the job department. I've been to a few interviews, and I'm still sending out my resume to everywhere I see a posting for. Just gotta be patient and cross my fingers I guess. My visiting teacher has been so great. She has invited Matt and I to a few get togethers with a bunch of people from the ward and tomorrow night we are having a bonfire down at the harbor in oceanside. She came by to visit me earlier this week and invited me to a park outing with some of the moms from our ward. It was nice to be invited but I thought I'd end up leaving early, you know, since I have no kids! and I thought it might be awkward to hang out with all these women that are all talking about there kids while I'm sitting there feeling more like a kid than one of their friends. But I was wrong. I got to play with babies and hold babies and feed babies and everything babies. What a fun day. We sat in the shade while all the older kids played on the playground and I made pretty good friends with a 10 month old. It really was a fun day. I definitely didn't end up leaving early, I was one of the last people there. I really was sad to leave. Anywho... turns out our cat is not a fan of the heat either. He will do anything to cool off. Including jumping into the cool water left in the tub after one of us takes a shower. He especially likes to hide in the dishwasher. And last night, my clumsy self spilled a cup of water on the carpet. Rufus came down to lay on the puddle and Matt thought it would be funny to use the cat to mop it up. Ha ha. Never laughed so hard in my life. The cat actually liked it, and rolled around in the water even after Matt stopped harrassing him. Anywho, guess that's enough rambling for now. Hope everyone's staying cool!
The picture's kind of dark, so I'm not sure if you can see, but there's a puddle under there....

Oh The Places We'll Go

We have had so many visitors the last few months and we have had a blast. Last week Mom and Dad Phillips came for a visit and their last night here, Sierra's cousin Jamie and her husband Rhett got here. So it's been one crazy week. Matt has been working later and later lately but we tried to get in as much as we could with all our guests and hopefully we did okay. It feels like we've been running around in circles for a while now and even though we've had lots of fun we're looking forward to getting a little break before we venture home for a few weeks.

This is the giant pot we found in Solana Beach outside an antique shop

This is in Sea World at one of the shows. This flower was supposed to be for Jamie's hair but this way did make a pretty good picture
